The tips begin at a different place in each module. The advice moves along with the stages of the course.

Every topic has an 'in itself' and a 'for the rest'. The 'in itself' includes the model systems, the traditional problems, conceptual vocabulary, and specific learning goals of the topic. Learning the 'in itself' gives you tacit knowledge 'for the rest'. Each scientific discipline has different methods for justifying the validity of its statements about the world. They are different disciplines with different traditions. However, there is only one science.

Suggested Assignments

Science Focus

Study the conceptual materials in your book-set (TBR or Kaplan) covering carbohydrates, lipids, and connective tissue proteins.

Perform the odd numbered (phase 1 ) practice items in your book-set.

Watch the videos for Module 9 - Blood Clotting & Connective Tissue Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Lipids.

Read Ch. 4 - Fibrous Proteins and Ch. 7 - Introduction to Carbohydrates in Biochemistry (Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews). Perform the practice items at the end of each chapter.

Choose from the resources available within the Topic Pages to reinforce and supplement learning.

Conceptual Integration

Read the Interdisciplinary Notes for Module 9.

Play Catch Blue.

Biology Cycle

Read Ch. 17 - G Protein Signaling, Ch. 18 - Catalytic Receptor Signaling, and Ch. 19 - Steroid Receptor Signaling in Lippincott - Cell & Molecular Biology

Cumulative review/skim of Lippincott - Cell & Molecular Biology up through chapter 16.

We are budgeting two modules to complete the work for Identity & Personality. Begin study of the conceptual treatment of Identity & Personality in your MCAT book-set and begin work on the odd numbered problems.

Begin reviewing the conceptual vocabulary for Identity & Personality using the illustrated conceptual primer on this site.

Extend practice using the Essential Concepts ANKI Deck to include the Identity & Personality cards.

Integrated Course practice items:

Module 9 CARS Lesson The test writer's perspective.

Perform the thinking like a question-writer assignments located at the end of this module's CARS lesson.

MCAT Practice

Continue working on the Physics, Chemistry & Biology (I & II) Question Packs at AAMC. Look to complete the Question Packs before module 12.
